A set of special sessions will be organized in order to identify current issues of relevance in the international context for both research and agritourism practices.

The Congress organisers invite all interested professionals (or practitioners) researchers, public and private institutions, as well as international networks and initiatives related to agritourism to propose a thematic session by taking as reference one of the key themes of the congress. We welcome thematic proposals deriving from all kind of disciplines and concerning both basic or applied research. The link to the concept of Agritourism needs to be evident and you are encouraged to keep in mind the following criteria before submitting your session proposal. The session should:

  • address current research or innovative approaches;
  • compose a project team composed by experts/researchers of different national origin;
  • include contributions from both the academia and external experts or policy-makers;
  • propose interactive/innovative formats (e.g. world/theme café, speed dating, workshop, poster, …);
  • focus on specific regions / countries or promise contributions from different countries;
  • refer to one or more established research and agritourism networks;
  • maximise the diffusion of results through, for example, their publication in special issues or books;
  • include early-career researchers as organisers and/or speakers;
Submission Procedure

Proposers should submit their abstract by sending it to

All proposals should contain the required information as described below including keywords and references. If you think that any of the reported requirements are inappropriate for your work, please provide other relevant information together with a brief explanation. You will not have the option to attach full bibliographies, reports, or full papers during the abstract submission process. All abstracts must be submitted in English.

Proposals should include name/affiliation/contacts of the proposers, the title and the abstract for the session, 5 key words and 3-5 major references. The abstract should clearly present a concise statement of the topic or issue to be discussed, the central theme / hypothesis question and a summary of the main expected results in a maximum of 200 words (in a single paragraph) and be suitable for online publication without any further editing. Please include also a brief explanation, why your special session proposal is a benefit for the congress. Additionally, the proposer has to describe briefly the format of his session (interactive or not, method, will there be a moderator/facilitator, do you already have in mind speakers…).

Following a review of the Congress Scientific Committee, the organizers will decide on definitive special sessions by 27 November 2017. Notification regarding acceptance or rejection of the session proposals will be sent to the submitter on November 27, 2017 by email. An accurate email address is critical. If you have not received an email notification after December 1st, contact with the title of your session proposal.

Responsibilities of the sessions' organizers

Proposers of accepted sessions will assist the Scientific Committee in circulating the call for papers and in promoting the activities of the Congress among their personal networks and mailing lists. They will be responsible, in collaboration with the Congress organisers, for the selection of abstracts, the invitation of speakers, chair(s) and discussant(s), and in deciding the format of their session.
