The International Workshop on Agritourism (IWA) took place in Burlington, Vermont, USA August 30-September 1, 2022. Over 500 representatives from 56 countries attended in-person and virtually to explore benefits and challenges related to agritourism. Conference participants included farmers and ranchers, tourism experts, researchers, educators, agricultural service providers, and others interested in promoting agritourism. Recordings of the conference program and the conference proceedings are available here.
IWA built on the success and momentum of the 1st World Congress on Agritourism, hosted by Eurac Research on November 7-9, 2018, in Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy. The conference in Vermont in 2022 was hosted by the University of Vermont Extension and chaired by Dr. Lisa Chase.
Originally scheduled to take place in 2020, IWA was postponed until 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the interim, IWA convened monthly virtual gatherings on a wide array of agritourism topics. Click here to view the past webinars.
Following the success of the 2022 conference, leading scholars and practitioners of agritourism joined forces to form the Global Agritourism Network (GAN).
Eurac Research will host the 2nd World Congress on Agritourism on May 16-18, 2024, in South Tyrol, Italy.
